When we say Chinese New Year the first thing that pops up on my mind is
"tikoy" which is actually considered as a chinese new year cake.

Chinese New Year is one of the most celebrated festivity not just for the Chinese Community in the Philippines, but for most Filipinos as well. In fact, since 2012, Chinese New Year  has been declared a special non-working holiday to give Chinese-Filipinos and Filipinos alike the opportunity to celebrate such a tradition-filled holiday.  Aside from the giving of ampao, the colorful decorations and the noise and light created by fireworks, food remains as one of the most important part of the Chinese New Year Celebration.

Since CNY is getting near, do you have any plans? like what to wear?
or where to celebrate new year?

If none so far, you might wanna read more of this blog post.

AUTHENTIC CHINESE CUISINE

I've tried different chinese restaurants but
Shangri-la Finest Chinese Cuisine is really one of my top favorites.
Did you know that they are providing exceptional food & excellent service for
over 35 years now? Yes. 35 years! They even served St. Pope John Paul II in 1995.

"Shangri-la has been the strongest Chinese restaurant.
What started with a man power of ten has grown to a hundred and ten.
Its 400 seating capacity has grown to a 1,200 seat dining sanctuary that has catered to many milestones."

It is believed that how you celebrate the Chinese New Year
and the choices of food for this occasion will have an effect on the fortune of the coming year.

Shangri-La Finest Chinese Cuisine

Last saturday, I had a chance to attend the Eco Waste Management summit in observance
of the 17th Anniversary of RA 9003 and the 4th Zero Waste Month, the Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources holds the Ecological Waste Management Summit: “Strengthening Cooperation And Partnerships On Ecological Solid Waste Management For The Present And Future Generations” held last January 25-27, 2018 at the
ABS-CBN Vertis Tent.

Before anything else,

Did you know that giving back to the community
is a great way to help serve the people and the environment?
Mother Earth Foundation and Zero waste reduction movement of the Philippines
are only two of various non-profit organizations seeking to change the country.

The event aims to further boost the DENR’s continuous efforts in enhancing public awareness and understanding of environmental issues and concerns, focusing on practical knowledge for effective solid waste management at source, which includes waste segregation, composting, and recycling.

During my visit at the expo, i've seen different booths showcasing
eco-friendly stuffs & even food.

Some of them are:

Lick Iced Tea

Lick Iced Tea is a new line of ready-to-drink, glass bottled flavored iced teas that is a hip, fun and a relatively new entrant in the local flavored tea industry with the idea of masterfully crafting naturally sweetened beverage for the discerning taste buds of iced tea sommelier generation with different fruit flavors we all love. Each bottle is naturally sweetened with Stevia Plant Extract & sugar with a blend of green and black tea extracts. This makes each bottle healthier by the grams & sweeter by the sip! It's the same amount of sweetness--minus the calories! 🍂

Bambuhay Straw

This one's really unique plus you can help save our mother earth!
It's an anti-bacterial straw made of bamboo.
Eco-friendly, reusable & biodegradable.

Bambike

BAMBIKE (Bamb EcoLogical Technology Inc.) is a socio-ecological enterprise that hand-makes bamboo bicycles with fair-trade labor and sustainable building practices. Our Bambike builders come from Gawad Kalinga, a Philippine based community development organization for the poor, working to bring an end to poverty. We are also working on a bamboo nursery for reforestation and have plans for a reef rehabilitation project. Bambike is a company that is interested in helping out people and the planet, dedicated to social and environmental stewardship. Our goal is to do better business and to make the greenest bikes on the planet.

There are also clothes & dresses made of recycled items.

This government initiative enjoins a stronger partnership with all stakeholders, local governments, communities, private businesses, and the public. An increased awareness and commitment on effective waste management creates a future where citizens enjoy an unpolluted environment, sustainable, and secure from natural calamities. To achieve this, the summit presents an interactive program that will inform, instruct, and inspire participants to take the lead towards a cleaner and greener world.

Summit activities include seminars and talks on Current Environmental Situation, Laws and Regulations, Technological Innovations, and Sustainable Goals; workshops on Practical Ways of Saving the Planet; and exhibitions of environmental products, technologies, and services from various Local Government Units, Non-Governmental Organizations, government agencies, and the private sector.

It is my first time to attend this kind of summit and i am really happy
to personally see how Filipinos protect our environment through this event.
I have learned that we should always be mindful with our actions and
always remember to reduce, reuse & recycle.
